It's the whereabouts Mrs. Calabash that are in question, Bloomfield... I've not gone anywhere. On 2003-01-15 23:28, Bloomfield wrote:

I'm glad you liked my idea... took you long enough to try it though!

Well, you certainly haven't been calling attention to yourself! Glad you are around, and am really grateful for you pioneering work. I am a dwarf standing on the shou.... mmmh. How tall are you btw, raindog? On 2003-01-16 06:12, raindog1970 wrote:It's the whereabouts Mrs. Calabash that are in question, Bloomfield... About it taking me long enough. I actually built the whistle last September. Getting it written up & posted is what took me forever....
Mary: Nicest compliment I've had all year to have brought you out of lurk mode. Glad you liked it. And about cracking you up: I know I should practice more...

How did you get it even all around the tube? Was that hard to do?Are you using Teflon tape on the joint? On 2003-01-16 10:15, dlambert wrote:
Besides sheets of sand paper I used a drum sander attachement on my power drill. The attachment and three sanding drums was about $5 at home depot. It takes about 5 minutes to shape one up this way. This is a great way to find some use for all those cheapies just hanging around.

OK. I have mastered my convulsive fits of laughter, so let me add my patented head-removal technique while I'm waiting for your sound clips to download on my antique 'pooter.
Instead of boiling water or even herbal tea, try this:
> Light a candle.
> Heat the whistle halfway between the decal and the mouthpiece. Don't put the whistle IN the flame.
> Turn it once in a while.
> The head should be loose after 30 seconds or so. Sometimes you get a puff of smoke coming out of the fipple. A religious moment, to be sure.
> Occasionally there is some glue residue on brass whistles and/or brass whistle mouthpieces. Wait until things cool down before you sand. You may not need to.
> Try this onstage when your partner is going on and on about Geminiani and O'Carolan. Your tip jar will overflow.

Assuming (and I recognize no such assumption is necessarily warranted) that there *is* an undisclosed relationship between 3Fish Productions and Bloomfield, I wish to point out that this contribution does seem to support the final element of the 3Fish Mission statement:
As specialists in our respective pursuits, our team of professionals has the ability to understand the needs, expectations, and technical strengths of our clients and potential associates. We have the ability but we may reserve the right not to exercise those abilities.
Should such an undisclosed relationship exist, I would just like to thank Bloomfield for not reserving his abilities to understand our needs, expectations, and technical strengths.
Nice job.

The drum sander attachment takes off such a small amount of the brass at a time that if you keep turning it you get a pretty even job. Yes, I use teflon tape and that works really well to tighten it up. The only problem with this method is that you might end up scratching up the tube below the head. This might not appeal to everyone.
