It's that most wonderful time of year again!
I had some delectable orange cream Peeps last week, and I have another package stashed in my desk for tomorrow!

Dense, dry, banana-flavored marshmallow. What's to understand? Great granny loves them.emmline wrote:I don't understand those orange circus peanuts either.
I like Marshmallow Peeps, except that they sometimes pick up the taste of the cellophane.

Why someone would want to eat them.Walden wrote: What's to understand?
To be fair though, I eat tofu. Frequently.

Peeps are only at their best if they're slightly stale. But when they are......oh yum!!
I can't tolerate the circus peanuts either. Very nasty, in my opinion, but then I'm not a banana flavouring fan.
And if the others here at Casa Izz were more open-minded, I'd eat tofu frequently, too

I wonder if the web sites are blocked so that only Americans can see them. I am not able to find the Sugar-free Peeps or the Tofu Peeps in any of these pages.

To get the slightly stale taste to the Peeps, as soon as you get them home from the store, poke holes in the cellophane. Place at least one package of Peeps in one upper cabinet so you forget about them for months. Truly dried out Peeps are like finely aged cheeses.
Circus peanuts are only good for one thing. To teach children that not all things advertised as candy are good. Discrimination is still a necessary skill.

I'd take circus peanuts over peeps.

And here I thought this was about my favorite local unofficial, but reliable announcement of the eminent approach of spring, otherwise known as "peepers". We call them peeps for short.

Mind you, I'd never eat any of them, peeps, or peepers, or circus peanuts. I'm picky like that.
But I do like it when the peepers start peeping, as they have been this week. Gives me hope for warmer temps!

Ptasie mleczko a candy that translates to bird's milk. Never heard of it, it reminds me of a Little Debby snack.susnfx wrote:How does one milk a bird?dwest wrote:...birds' milk.

As a side note, I have always wanted to try to make my own marshmallows. That and track down the older recipes that used the Marshmallow plant as a main ingredient.
