My Heart will go on

Post by Fatduck »

Hello, me again :)

I was wondering if anyone had the whistle music for My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion, particulary the performance of which Andrea Corr from the Corrs features.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=urb4y-ZMv ... re=related

Thanks in advance.

P.S Am I correct in thinking thats a Generation Bflat whistle she is playing? if so, not every day you see a succussful musician playing a £3 instrument!

It's been a long time since we had to field a Celine Dion question here on the forum. It's kinda nostalgic.

The sheet music for that song is undoubtedly commercially available.

The video is problematic. Ms. Corr is faking it, I'm afraid. That's not a Bb Generation you're hearing, although it is certainly what she's holding in her hands.

Oh dear. I'm going to get the jump on Peter here. Paddy Moloney, Sean Potts, Micho Russell, Mary Bergin, Julie Fowlis, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, Willie Clancy, Liam O'Flynn - all play(ed) Gens and Feadógs.

There are many reasons that experienced whistle players choose their instruments. Price is not one of them. :-)

BTW, Dale ... Have you ever wondered how much of our brains is forever lost to other uses in order to store, for ready recall, information such as the fact that this obscure Andrea Corr video was overtracked? :P

You play anything you want to play on the whistle. I like playing this song on my brand new honking ocarina. It's pretty easy to just pick out some songs on a whistle. Give it a go. No sheet music required.

I reflect on this often. My brain is so packed with useless trivia that I have trouble getting useful things done.

Until about the 80s, Generations and Clarks were nearly the only whistles available; any whistle recording* older than that is almost certainly one or the other.

*Unless it's kwela, in which case its probably a Hohner in Bb.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

It's sad that the recording industry has raised our expectations so high that even the recording artists themselves aren't good enough to play or sing live.
The Walrus

What would a wild walrus whistle if a walrus could whistle wild?

The second mouse may get the cheese but the presentation leaves a lot to be desired.
