Tommy Kearney RIP

Post by ambaiste »

It is with great regret that we heard of the passing of Tommy Kearney in hospital in Waterford
13/12/2008.
Tommy was a great friend and mentor for over 30 years of Howard Music
.He gave a lot to Uilleann Piping and will be sadly missed.
Our sympathies go to his daughter Marie

Poor Tommy, sorry to hear that. I happened to think of him yesterday and wondered how he was doing.

I spend a good bit of time with him over the years, a true gentleman.

Very sorrow to hear of his passing. I never met him and dont know too much about him.Apart from being a piper was he involved in the piping world in other ways?

He taught quite a lot of pipers from the South East (Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny), including Jimmy O'Brien-Moran and David Power, to mention but two.

Tommy Kearney's music was saved for posterity by NPU on Volume 2 of their The Master Pipers series of CDs (NPUCD012), available from NPU.
