Wow. Gotta learn me some phpbb 3.
Re: Wow. Gotta learn me some phpbb 3.
Are you going to have training sessions? I think we should have some. Evenings are best for me, ok?
Meanwhile, I'll just experiment. You can learn a lot from that, although I still think training sessions would be good.

Things I like about the new version so far:
On the pages which list the topics, you can easily see which
topics you have responded to, because they have a little black
dot on the top-left of the topic's icon, as such:
If you know you're going to want to refer back to a topic later,
you can bookmark it. Just under the Post Reply button on a
topic, there is a link called "Bookmark Topic". If you click on it,
the topic will be stored under your profile. To see the topics
you have bookmarked, go to "User Control Panel" (that link is
at the top right of almost every page) and look under Overview
for a link called "Manage Bookmarks". (If it's not there, you may
have to click on Overview to expand it.) The Manage Bookmarks
page will show all the topics you've bookmarked. Pretty sweet.

The Friends and Foes function in the User control panel is an interesting feature.
You can keep track of friends, and ignore the posts of the people you set as foes.
Self moderation is probably a good thing.

Hmmm, this is interesting. I'm just glad it's back...

Some profile pictures are uploaded to the system and some are links to pictures elsewhere on the net. Maybe the ones that were uploaded didn't get transferred to the new server. Pictures don't get stored in the Database, I think they get stored in one of the BBS subfolders.

Well...my wiggedness continues relatively unabated as I contend with evaporating avatar syndrome and (new point of wig) the moderator list--all red and blue--has vanished from the top of the page.

Re: Wow. Gotta learn me some phpbb 3.
When I click "back" after reading a thread, I get a webpage expired notification and have to refresh if I want to go back to the forum I was browsing. Am I the only one experiencing this?
Re: Wow. Gotta learn me some phpbb 3.
Never mind. I think I worked that one out.

Looks good, well done to everyone involved.
I'm getting the following message when I try and post a reply though:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@forums.chiffandfipple.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I'm a bit worried about Emmline's state of continual wiggedness.
I'm no longer trying a new posting paradigm

Interesting all that is left is a small break that saysmukade wrote:The Friends and Foes function in the User control panel is an interesting feature.

"This post was made by I.D.10-t who is currently on your ignore list. Display this post." (or that's what it would say if you could list your self as a Foe)
Seems kind of harsh though. I wish it was a "Highlighted and Ignore" and not a "Friends & Foes" list. Still haven't figured out the use of the highlighted function.
I wonder how the "Report this post" works. Must not press the big red "!"
