Tell us something.: "Tell us something" hits me a bit like someone asking me to tell a joke. I can always think of a hundred of them until someone asks me for one. You know how it is. Right now, I can't think of "something" to tell you. But I have to use at least 100 characters to inform you of that.

(nevermind; I don't think ANYONE wants to see a picture of me THAT close up!)

Playing my touching rendition of "Danny Boy" on my new nose flute (stay tuned for a review!). Beth "Avanutria" was accompanying on the slide whistle.

Too late tom, both of those are posted in the other thread.

...but once I get the file size down I will post our video duet on the slide whistles!

I thought the pics you guys posted were both stunning and professional and a joyous undertaking, not to mention some good humor from Eric. Can anyone provide some help with how to get these pics done properly. I'll be using an Olympus C 3000 Zoom digital camera that's loaded but a bit complicated.

Any hints re lighting used, telephoto, distance, angle, etc. would be appreciated. I guess my daughter can help me with posting the pics here; I have a decent software program for getting the pics downloaded to the computer.

Now I have some time to do these things.

Jesse - thanks for sharing that beautiful collection; even my generally whistle scoffing spouse said it was beautiful to behold (still couldn't get movement on the ss Copeland though).

Thanks all.

OK, here's goes with some pics, though I'm more of a guit player than a whistle player.

ImageSome cool whistle storage, my wife hates that mug.
ImageThe strange harp-like instrument is called a kinnor. The whistles on the chair are an Olwell bamboo D flute, a Hoover SCR(shower curtain rod) low D, an Eyer low G, a Howard low C(black) and Howard low D(brass). Plus assorted other whistles resting on the guitars stands. It keeps me busy and at home.

BTW, that IS a desert storm GI Joe with a gun crawling over my monitor. Hey, I'm a kid at heart!

Tell us something.: You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

I'm sure you've all seen a Dixon High D. Here is my banjo:

Don't give me that look! A banjo is a noble instrument!

-Good to know of another open-back banjoist. I play a nice Bart Reiter open-back found on consignment at a good price. Little ornamentation, just a star on the peghead, but a fine sound. Open-back banjos rule!

I have a Whyte Laydie from 1903 of which I'm quite proud. Someone bought it at an auction for about $100. I bought it a couple of weeks later for a substantially higher price. Not outragous by any means. A bargain in fact. But the banjo I'm playing a lot now is a gourd banjo made by John Stephen Foster in Quebec. That's a funny name for a guy interested in old banjos.

ok, ok, I give in... here's my current collection, less a keyboard, and a soon to be mandolin.

I'm feeling rather humbled today.

Well, since everyone else seems to be including all their other instruments, I guess I'll add mine too.

My Other Instruments:

1969-1970 Intermediate-Advanced C.G. Conn Eb Alto Saxophone {Kehv} (Mother-Of-Pearl finger rests; has an unusually golden shade of brass finish)
1924 Hand-made German Concert Pro Violin (made by Eugene Meinel- formerly belonged to my Grandma, my Mom, and before them, a Concert Violinist with a Symphony-Orchestra in the Midwest)
Abilene 6-string Guitar (Honey-coloured top and a red-brown sides and back; laminant)
Ivory Plastic Yamaha 8-hole Fife
Trumpet (unknown brand... looks very, very old; is in working condition and has mother-of-pearl finger key tops)
Casio 2 1/2 octave keyboard (I've had it for I don't know how many years!)
Hohner Echo C Harmonica (belonged to my Uncle)
Hohner Kazoo (blue and black w/yellow lettering)
6-holed Peruvian Flute
4-holed mini South-American Ocarina

And I think that's it...
