This is GREAT news!

Now, from here we can't actually see Lesley, but perhaps we could imagine that her bruises could be healing, as she looks better, day by day.

My best wishes, to both of you!

:-)

Don't forget to just nudge the furniture legs slightly out of the dents in the carpet, Ro, and just a quick squirt of furniture polish into the air in each room - voila, you've cleaned the house! :D

She is here! :D :D :D

She is asleep!

Lesley was very tired after the half hour journey, which she obviously found painful. She came in with me, sat on the sofa, sank into it with a big sigh and went to sleep. Later she woke up, had a look round (glad it smelled like polish, Steve  ) sat down and went to sleep again.

She did this last time too. Hospital is exhausting!

Must go - I have to make sure she stays resting and doesn't get up to anything when I'm not looking (although I don't think she will; she is really very sensible.)

Enjoy our party, everyone!

I lay last night looking at the sleeping face of this woman I love so much, marvelling at the smallness of her, the fragility of her limbs, her scars and bruises, and the strength that is hidden by her closed eyes. A strength to fight despite almost unbeatable odds, pain, weakness, loss of hope. The strength that made her choose to stay here, with me , where her fight will go on and on as she regains the life she so nearly lost. This is my wife, this is why I married her and why we are still here together after years of ups and downs, good and bad times.

Then she woke up, grinned at me and giggled, finding my gaze funny. Yes, this is Lesley, home where she belongs.

Thank you all for your love, prayers, positive thoughts and encouragement, which have helped to work this miracle for us.

A quiet and lovely day. Strangely, things feel very different from the last time Lesley came home. Then, I don't think either of us trusted her recovery. We felt that we had to cram things into the time available, as there was not going to be a lot of it. Lesley wanted to see everywhere again, and I wanted her to have everything she wanted.

This time we both feel safe. We know now that she will get better, that she can take her time and that there will be time to take. Lesley has rested all day. She got up but not dressed and pottered slowly about the house, with frequent naps. There was no urgency to see the sea, the moors, friends - they will still be there when she is ready for them. Even her whistles haven't been played yet, although they have been picked up and admired! This is how it should be. All is well.

You know, Lesley's recovery sounds exactly like most of my christmas vacations. Nap, open my eyes.... nap again... get away from the couch to make tea, nap again... open my mouth to insert some cookie and muffin, reach the controller with one hand to start a TV show. It's 7pm and I'm still on the couch and havent showered yet.

So, she's basically in vacations, and should count herself lucky :-)

I wish you both a nice trip on the path to recovery.
