Here's a tune that has always plagued me. For some reason I got the 'bug' to work on crans today. I tried to vary the 'A' part several times, but think I may have lost the timing somewhat by doing so. Anyway, I'd like to know if the crans and triplets are coming across?

Well done, I like the set very much.Gabriel wrote:Sorry, no solo flute recording, but a test recording with my new band. We rehearsed for a full weekend and recorded everything to keep track of it.

There are a few glitches here and there, mainly on the flute side of life - the fiddlers have the big advantage of not having to take breaths!
Keep up,

Thanks Arbo -
I finally have some time to record tunes. I find the feedback here quite helpful. Here's Christe Barry's Jigs.

Here's a Scottish jig I have been working on. Still pretty much a 'work in progress.'

Nice one Arbo. Lots of variations there. I wasn't sure about the cran in the B section. At least I think it was a cran. It worked sometimes, and sometimes seemed to stand outside the rhythm a bit.
Thanks.
Michael

Curragh Races
Like Arbo's lastest submission, here's one I'm still learning. Not a lot of variation, but it's all I can do to just play it through without losing it. I've heard it played at sessions, and on a Flute Obsession CD. I think it's sometimes called The Maid in the Cherry Tree.

Re: Curragh Races
Nice one Michael. You've got some variations in there buddy. I really like the pulse you have going. I used to play this a long time ago paired with the Chicago reel afterward. I think I originally learned it from a Tommy Reck recording (The Stone in the Field?). Fair play to you! Oh, Yeah I know what you mean about the crans in the 'B' section. I am still trying to iron out the variations and the double notes which give me a ROYAL pain in the arse...mahanpots wrote:Like Arbo's lastest submission, here's one I'm still learning. Hey all,
So I guess I will post a tune that has become my favorite lately.

Sorry for the crazy back drop but I was at work and it is the best sounding room in the joint
This tune is pretty popular in the Baltimore / DC area
Thanks John for the use of your flute once again. I miss my baby already
