I have not had time to be on here very much as of late, but I wanted you both to know that I am rejoicing in Lesley's recovery thus far! You both will continue to be in my prayers....I am hoping that it all continues to go well, despite the setbacks. You both are absolutely amazing!!! :)

Hi,

To one of the sweeter couples I've had the pleasure to be introduced to, Lesley and Ro, and to whom it may concern, I'd like to comment, please.

Ro, I'd first like to offer a personal apology to you, for my having been so brusque.

Through you, moreover, I became aware that Lesley could have a very serious physical condition, as heart troubles could be.

That sort of trouble is known to take time, often lots of time, to recover from, if at all possible.

Really, I meant the best, and still do.

:-)

And we know that, and are both grateful!
Looking forward to your future comments. And glad you are not uncorked!

We went to the beach today! And I wasn't in the pram!! I can walk, pushing the stupid thing, for a good distance now. At least I don't want to chop it up and drill holes in it all the time, which is how I feel about the dreaded Zimmer frame. That has been banished to the garage, ready for me to fix it later!

It was a lovely day, for once - sunny, nearly warm, with a good breeze to rough up the sea nicely. I am done good to. My soul is refreshed. Ro enjoyed it too, although he doesn't have quite the love of the sea that I have, as he grew up inland, poor dear.

Just thought I'd let you know, so you could be jealous!

(All walking done in moderation, in deference to Denny's feelings.)

I did the same thing this afternoon: just ambled on the cliffs twixt Widemouth Bay and Bude in the sun (how rare is that this "summer!"), then stopped at a mate's house for a cup of char and one of his wife's rock cakes in the garden. Balm to the soul! Here's Widemouth at 3 this afternoon. :)

Very nice, Steve! Next time I shall take my camera - it can go in the pram!! That would be a good use for it!

Char and rock cakes, Steve?!?! You folks certainly gnaw on some tasty-sounding stuff. :boggle: (where's that throw-up thingy when you want it.....???)

The most distant bit of land in view in my pic is Tintagel Head, home of King Arthur. If it looks a bit misty just round there, it isn't my camera - it was a huge mass of drizzle that drenched me 30 minutes after I took the pic! :boggle:

Steve, what's your take as a local: TIN-tagel or tin-TAG-el?

djm
I'd rather be atop the foothills than beneath them.

Tin-TADGE-ull.

And it's WIDMUTH bay, not "wide-mouth." That's a frog. We have a few other oddities like that in place-names around here. It helps us to immediately identify and laugh at outsiders. Try these:

Woolfardisworthy
Launceston
Mousehole
Rough Tor
Treknow
St Teath
Polzeath
Poughill

Woolsery
Lanson
Mowzel
Rowter (as in having a big row with someone)
Tre-no
St Teth
Polzeth
Pofful

Thx. Some of those I've heard before, but I keep hearing the two different pronuciations for Tin-thingy, so I was curious about the local version.

. . .

Lesley
Exultation is the going
Of an inland soul to sea
Past the houses, past the headlands,
Unto deep eternity.

Bred as we, among the mountains,
Can the sailor understand
The divine intoxication
Of the first league out from land.

Emily Dickinson

Lesley, I'm so glad you're FREE of the hospital and able to enjoy a trip to the beach. And walking, too -- hooray! It's so much easier for the spirit to fly when the body isn't caged, and when there's a bit of fresh breeze to lift us up.

I'm far from the ocean here, but everything is golden with autumn leaves. I think the fall color may be just about at its peak today. Ahh . . . yellow leaves are as nice as a sea breeze. :)
