No. The cat says "brrrah! Then it says it again in a peeved tone because my husband pulled its tail.MTGuru wrote:Your cat says "rerf"?? Hairballs, maybe. I have to orient myself every morning that I get up. What I dream, if I'm sleeping in my own bed, and how hectic my life is are all things that matter about how much orienting I have to do. Who am I, How old am I, Where am I, What day/month/year is it, What is my schedule for today....
And let me tell you, if I get one of those things wrong, my whole day is a mess. There is no greater joy than thinking that I have to go to grade school only to figure out while I am in the bathroom that I really have to go to work.

Rose tint my world. Keep me safe from my trouble and pain.

A good book.
I have a habit of reading in the early morning.
I pop up, put on the kettle for my french press, grind some beans and crack open my current book.
I actually get a little cross in the A.M. if I don't have something fun to read.

At home, the birds in my house squawk and cheep, demanding attention and breakfast.
In the wilderness the birds outside chirp and I feel like I've got to get up, too.

What makes me stay awake? I HAVE TO. I have a family counting on me.
I use to set three alarms all around the room so I'd have to get up. As I've gotten older I don't have to do that anymore.
I never get to sleep late now that I'm working six days a week. Sunday I have to be at church by 8 so that's out too.
All my dogs, down through the years, have always learned- you don't wake her up.
Em said it best- "like ripping off a bandaid." One second I'm sound asleep, the next I'm on my feet (usually groaning).

Are you an adult survivor? I am, and I do that sometimes, too. I also wake up barely able to breathe, and crying. It's a common part of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).CHasR wrote:Sorry, I wake up screaming daily.Jack wrote:When you wake up in the morning and just want to curl up and go back to sleep, what makes you stay awake?

I have a little boy who tries to push me out of bed while he yells, "Out! Out!"

I am able to set an internal alarm by telling myself to wake up at a certain time. I will set a backup electronic alarm but maybe one out of a hundred times do I have to rely on that. I usually turn off the alarm before it goes off, a few minutes early.
I do need sleep though, preferably seven or eight hours of down time. I can get by on short sleep for a day, two days at the outside, after that it gets dicey. Naps are a good thing. If I run a serious sleep deficit for a while, I might take a whole day mostly catching up on sleep, maybe sleeping 16 or 18 hours in one 24 hour period.
