Right. So...just give me your lunch money.

Me, well now, I wouldn't know a respected member if one hit me in the face.
Maybe you've arrived when someone prefaces a reply to you with "With all due respect..."

Otherwise I have no idea.

Why not ask Walden to list them? He obviously knows.

None of those who replied to my post were considered by me to be bullies, but I do think they all are pretty respected around here.

Such a lovely word.

So full of meaning in itself and yet exudes such essence.

Somehow, that bully thing just doesn't seem to fit you well, Emm. :D On the other hand if you did manage to shove Bloomie off his stool, disciplinary action would soon follow as he would probably fall on your foot, with untold consequences.

Well, I'm old, fat and balding, and everyone bows and scrapes in my presence, so obviously it's ME. I may be a bully, but by gord I get respect!

I still check in a lot but I stopped coming here all the time not long after the great bifurcation due to all of the nasty political grinding. I know that it stopped but it got so bad for a while that it REALLY got under my skin... It was totally depressing to me.

Be that as it may, C&F seems to be doing just as well as it ever has. There's lots of new folks around and the conversations are still going strong. It may be replaced one of these days, but as things go, it would really be a difficult task and I don't know why anyone would want to replace it.

I think that Mitch may be speaking tongue and cheek in the thread starter but it's an unfair assessment of this place IMO.

Best,
Paul

It would be if he were serious. I respectfully (hey, look! You're a respected member now, too  ) submit that 'twas all just a lark taking its cue - or, could be, not - from past threads more earnest about how much better it all was "back when" (which plaints, frankly, are baffling to me, and something I cannot bring myself to really credit beyond the arena of the personal tastes and nostalgias of others in the face of inexorable change. Call me a sucker for novelty), and nothing else.

C&F may indeed one day be replaced, but its place is unlikely to ever be taken.

Doesn't it, though. I'm minded of a t-shirt I saw on a young feller that had blazoned on it the legend, "The older I get, the better I was". He'll find out sooner than he expects.
