There is a new real estate company in town. Absolute Realty.
There's another new real estate company in town. Exit Realty.
I can't decide which has the worse name.

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

I've not seen a problem with 'absolutely,' but 'totally' is getting old.

Actually, some other words grate worse, even if I do use them myself.

I recently read "Anansi Boys" by Neil Gaiman. The villain has a habit of (deliberately) saying "absatively!" (absolutely+positively). Naturally it causes him grief in the end.

Meh. I have better things to whine about.
Like the misuse of "literally".

I'm with Fearfaoin on this one. Absolutely doesn't bother me but literally is over-used and mis-used abundantly.

I forced my teenage daughter to say a whole sentence without using "like", "you know" , "anyway" or any other nonsense, filler words designed to spare teenagers from thinking while they talk. It was nearly impossible for her and she is much less guilty of using those words than any of here peers.

It was awfully fun to watch her try though.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

I dunno. Usus loquendi, and all that; time was when "egregious" meant "outstanding" and "worthily notable", but now just means outstanding strictly in a bad way. Language is, like, awesome.
