Just curious but what reworking did the chanter require?

Hi PJ

What I can see is the brass keys have been re padded and note holes is slightly bigger.

I sent Andreas Rogge a quick email asking "What did you do for 1 hours reworking on the Pat Stones D narrow bore chanter."

The D narrow bore Chanter before would not play any of my Rogge B chanter reeds perfectly but now the reeds work in both B and D narrow bore chanters.

Will do a new sound clip sometime soon.

Cheers

Hi PJ

Got email back today from Jens at Rogge workshop.
Andreas changed the bore little by little and adjustet fingerhole size and
undercuttig accordingly.
The cocobolo will darken considerably during the next few months.

Looking at your before and after pictures, there seems to be a quite noticeable enlargement of some of the tone holes. Particularly the C#, B A, and F#. Did this make the chanter louder and/or change the tone?

I wonder what Pat Stones thinks about the reworking of his chanter?
Arrogance and ennis's pipes are two things that might cross his mind.

I hope you like them. Nailed and hand stitched respectively, algarrobo cheecks (AKA Mesquite wood) polished by hand with shellac (I guess it´s called french polish) double layer leather gusset. The white inlet valve was turned out of polyester resin cast and the other is guayacán.

Here's some pictures of my new to me Kirk Lynch 1/2 set. The regs are on order and I will hopefully have them within a year. To my knowledge the set is made of kingwood with cowhorn and boar tusk for the mounts.

Them's a nice set of pipes, Gaiteiro. I like the metalwork on the bellows inlet, very ornate.

Yeah the bellows are quite lovely, they were made by Michael Dow, takes about 2.5 pumps to fill up the bag with it.

Here are some photos of my brand spankin' new four-keyed D chanter in ebony, silver and boxwood by Tim Benson and Stephanie Cornelius of New York. Sounds as lovely as she looks.
