FS: O'Brien set (reduced)

Post by canpiper »

Hello Chiffers! I posted these a while back, but after the first potential buyer packed out, I just never got around to bumping or reposting.

So here they are again (at a reduced price!): a set of copper O'Brien whistles. One head, five bodies (Bb, C, D, Eb, E), lightly used (the nickel coating has thinned around the fingers of the D, but that's it) and much loved. Bought about a year/year and a half a go from the man himself, and they are the "new" airway design. Very nice, stable, flute like sound. Excellent travel set.

The whistles come in the fabric 'O'Brien Whistles' case I bought with the whistles from David.

I believe David is selling this set for $145 dollars new (Canadian). Things as they are, I'm thinking that $80 USD (including shipping to North America) might be fair, o.b.o.

You know you want them!

James

O'brien sets are nice. I still have mine, though I don't give them the attention they deserve. If I recall, David said he would replate them if needed. I don't know if he still offers that.

Yes, if anyone buys them, by all means send them via Chilliwack for replating (for the cost of postage).

Dang, I just spent all my money on an O'Brien Stowaway (which is great). Maybe I can sweet talk my husband for the $80.

Hi folks! The whistles appear to be sold. Thanks for all the interest (I'm thinking they may have been reduced a few dollars too much!:)). I'm going to miss these.

Query:

Why, when I've sold these for much needed cash, do I find myself already looking for replacements?...I can't afford another attack of WhOA, I just can't!

This is undoubtably true, Grasshopper, and yet it is equally true, is it not, that not having another attack of WhOA is equally unaffordable?
The Walrus

What would a wild walrus whistle if a walrus could whistle wild?

The second mouse may get the cheese but the presentation leaves a lot to be desired.
