Buy a few CDs by bands you enjoy listening to. I started on "The Best of the Chieftains", with O'Sullivan's March; Cherish the Ladies "New Day Dawning", with the Green Cottage Polka/ Jer O'Connells/ Tom's Tavern set; and some usual starters like Molly Malone. Just make sure you practice slowly... otherwise you might miss important parts of a song. Good luck... Welcome to C&F

I love playing it, however frustrating it can sometimes be. So, can you kind people help me? I'd like to find some more "simple" (traditional) Celtic tunes, to encourage me to play. snip
Not quite Celtic ( some would argue :) )
but have a look at Bretton ( not Cape Bretton) tunes,
e.g. An Dro, Dans An Dro, or tunes by
Jean Michel Veillon.
They are simple dance tunes that are quite repetitive,
but you can change the octave, and give the tune
a little bit more variety.
Easy-ish to learn, and makes a nice little turn
at parties/gatherings etc by stringing 2 or 3 together.

I'd try starting off with some slow airs. The slow tempo makes them easier for me at least, and it might help you.

Yup. Think of it as "progressive training": slow airs, followed by (children's) songs and lullabies like Samhradh, samhradh, Baidin Fheidhlimi, Seoithin seotho etc., followed by marches, followed by jigs, followed by reels.
