Yeah, me too. I was very impressed with the book - it is very close to being the (for me) perfect ending to the series. About as much action and plot as the rest of the books put together (without feeling rushed or forced) and an absolutely perfect finale. To answer your question, djm, read it again!djm wrote:Well, I finished it. Great, so now what am I supposed to read that can compare to that?

The book came about noon yesterday. I got it first because Shannon has read all the other books in the series first, so she took pity on me.djm wrote:No slepp .... sllleppp -(dammit!) - ssssllllleeeepppppp .......emmline wrote:How are you guys so fast??

I finished it just after midnight last night.
I miss it...when she gets done with it, I'm reading it again.
Porbably not as fast this time, though...I'm getting to an age where that much nonstop reading is hard on a fella. How's that song go? "I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was!"

Mine has been abducted as well at this writing. I'm about on chapter 14 (I think...), and I've only gotten that far by confiscating the book back and hurriedly reading in a corner away from prying eyes and hands that are waiting for me to put it down for merely a second....emmline wrote: I've gotten 3/5 through, but at the moment have had to surrender both household copies to the offspring. Will probably have to wake up early tomorrow morning, giving myself enough time to finish before anyone else gets up.
At this rate, I'll never be done with the darn thing!
As for getting up early enough to be able to regain possession of it, Mr Izz unfortunately is up at 4am...far too early for the likes of me!
Someday, everything is gonna be diff'rent

I made a brave attempt at my resolution (to read the whole thing aloud and share the end with Kevin). We got 1/4 through the book yesterday reading as non-stop as I could. It was fun, but in the end a little too much "face time", almost like being on a long trip in the car together
So last night I read on my own, about an inch further.
Told Kevin today he can read on his own to catch up to me, "But let's read the end out loud together".
I want him to read as fast as possible today so I have been bringing him snacks of popsicles and grapes, to keep his energy up
I think when he is older this will be a good family memory. It certainly will be for me.

On Thursday, The Portland Mercury (a local irreverent entertainment rag) proclaimed "Snape kills Hermione!" on the front page and published what they claimed was a scan of p.723 of an advanced copy of the book in which Hermione is killed in a duel with Snape and then he advances over her crumpled, lifeless body towards a wounded Harry, presumably to finish him off.
Which isn't true, actually. It was just a little Photoshop/InDesign-induced prank. They'll probably get a ton of angry letters from parents whose kids saw it and were traumatized or something...I thought it was kinda funny, though. People all over town got whipped up into a panic.

Oh, dear! I got my copy, promising myself that I'd finish the job application that is due this week, the financial aid application that is due this week, and other official, work-related chores FIRST . . . but I peeked at the first chapter and now I'm unable to put it down . . . oooooooooh.
