"interesting concept" thread resurrected

Post by anima »

I have resurrected this thread over at:

http://uilleannforum.com/forums/viewtop ... =5049#5049

So I could put my two cents in.

You should do that with all locked threads ,you would get alot more visitors and give us an escape route from over zealous monitoring !!!

IMHO, it would be far easier if folk were to simply initiate threads there to begin with... save anima the extra work. Pretty much anything goes over there (within reason, of course), and as a moderator for that site, it is a welcome change to simply read the threads and laugh about what would and wouldn't work over here.

There has been a lot of criticism what the mods allow (or not, actually :D ) on C&F. That site ( http://uilleannforum.com/forums/viewtop ... =5049#5049
), I feel, is more to the liking of of some of the more aggressive, no nonesense personalities in the piping world.

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

If you already know the site, it's not like anyone here has been stopping your "escape", you know. Try again, Rory.

It gets so lonely over there !!

PS What I mean by escape is that sometimes you may want to constructively add to a thread ,but then it is locked

See, that's the thing, though. The mod isn't the problem, it's the "colorful opinion" and the escalation after that, and the persons posting them. If you need someone to blame, keep in mind the bigger picture. In all fairness, I think you have to agree that the mods keep a pretty light hand on things until they're forced to it.

Yes I do agree, only for the "over zealous" moderating on this forum,I,m sure,it would not be alive today and most of the time I hope the criticism of the moderating is just in fun, and hopefully not taken to seriously

Its just that ,as in the case with Anima, its frustrating when you want to add to a tread and go and find it locked.

The good thing about locked threads is that it gives you a good pointer on what threads to read. Sometimes I don't have much time so I scroll different forums on the Chiff and look for locked threads.

Now, imagine if the moderators were not trigger happy, I'd have to actually read the thread titles... :D

I stayed there once. It was disappointingly free of debauchery.

The prison term will of course make it harder to get to the
Champ de Mars metro stop.
