Re: How does superman fly???
I've always thought it was great bursts of gass from his " "rorybbellows wrote:The mystery of supermans flight is something that has puzzled me for years.I dont read the comics but have seen all the films and nowhere does it even hint at his method of propulsion.
But pieceing togeather all his powers ,the only answer I could come up with is that, with his ablity to take in vast quantities of air into his lungs he must somehow be able to compress this air in his body,He then must pass some of this compressed air into his lower gut ,and then ,at will with super fast and powerful contractions of his sphincter force the compressed air out jet style ,thus rocketing himself forward at great speed and power.
This is just theory of course there may be some other explaination for his super flight ! What do you think??

but why then dosent he leave foot-deep footprints?djm wrote:His home world, Krypton, had gravity that was enormously stronger than that of our own, so he would have seemed entirely normal there, but on our planet, with its much lighter gravity, he just gives the lightest push of his legs and he is instantly airborn. That's because his body, just like his planet, contains much more mass. Yes, that's right. Superman is denser than everybody else.

I think superman's hallucinating.

How does Superman fly?
Why,through the power of baking soda!
His propulsion closely resembles those little plastic baking soda boats that used to come in cereal. Just shove a little baking soda in and he putts around the bathtub. Or sky.
And speaking of the power of farts . . .

I sing the birdie tune
It makes the birdies swoon
It sends them to the moon
Just like a big balloon

It sends them to the moon
Just like a big balloon

At first he didn't fly - he could just "leap tall buildings at a single bound."
But by the time I was reading the comic books he did fly.
What I want to know is - I remember reading that Ma Kent made his costume out of his blankets from Krypton, and he used his heat vision to cut the material and "sew" it together for her - but how did the costume grow with him? I think that may have been covered in the books at some time, but I've forgotten.
