I don't know that one, but you might remind him that he's only half way to 110. And to enjoy it!brianc wrote:Does anyone have that quote about life handy... the one about not to finish all well and good, but rather come screaming in to the finish line, etc. etc..... ??

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!

I never heard of Anais Nin before (from BillChin's link to GoogleQuotes) but I think I would have liked her.
Anais Nin:
Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death.
Anais Nin:
People living deeply have no fear of death.
Anais Nin:
The personal life deeply lived always expands into truths beyond itself.
Anais Nin:
Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living.

While on the topic of quotes, I saw this one about a month ago.
G. K. Chesterton
Sounds like an interesting writer and was thinking of picking up a copy of The Man Who was Thursday
G. K. Chesterton
-from Robert Louis Stevenson (1902)A thoroughly strong man swinging a sledge-hammer can tap the top of an eggshell. A weaker man swinging a sledge-hammer will break the table which it stands into pieces. Also, if he is a very weak man, he will be proud of broken the table, and call himself a strong man dowered with the destructive power of an Imperial race…
