An amazing bit of crack.

If he ever brings that band to the Civic Theatre, here in beautiful downtown Scunthorpe, I'll be first on the queue.

Something tells me I better not hold my breath while I'm waiting.

Better take some vitamins before you go, or start working out or something, because a concert of his would not keep you in your seat!

True..

I'll leave it to you to explain it all to Izzy.

She seems to have doubts about the Prince.

Bedtime in Britland...

'night all.

Izz, if you don't like Prince(and like I said, I like him if I don't have to look at him , maybe a little Morris Day?

You forget dubh my dear, that I lived through Prince (I went to see Purple Rain when it came out at the theatres when I was 14). Now, Purple Rain truly is an ass kicking album (to borrow some phrasing from Dixie ;) ). The guitar on "Let's Go Crazy" was phenomenal (and I really did miss it during the Halftime show). It's his later stuff that leaves me cold. He went kind of weird on me. Kind of like U2 ;)
But all in all the show wasn't terrible....I liked the bluesy stuff in there, followed by the Foo Fighters. Interesting combination.

More later....I have this wonderful flu, you see. Not much fun :P

I Want A New Drug - Huey Lewis & The News
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deND7xS0dqA

Who remembers the trivia on Huey and Ghostbusters?
Huey sued (and lost) when he claimed Ray Parker Jr's Ghostbusters sounded too much like I Want A New Drug.
If I remember correctly, Lewis declined the offer to write the Ghostbusters theme and Parker came up with the song really quickly.

I lived through most of it as well, hanging out at First Avenue. Occasionally the Purple one would throw an impromtu gig, and man, they were usually like the video Dubh linked.

Mighty, mighty entertainer!!! Still among my faves.

Thanks Dubh! I forgot about that video. :)

edited to add: I just thought of it, but two of dubh's faves hail from Minnesota, Robert Zimmerman and Prince Rodgers Nelson. :D

In this video, it is nice to see Prince getting back to a more classic R&B repetoire. Nice guitar stuff.
