James, I know your pain dude. Sweet tea and regular Coke are... THE DEVIL!!!.

But, caffiene-free Diet Coke, well, it's an angel.

Next thing you know, you'll be listening to Amy Grant (not that there's anything wrong with that, she's good), reading Family Circle and refusing chocolate. It's a living hell, I tell you.

I'm with you. Haven't been able to drink regular coke for about 7 months now, although I still crave a pepsi now and then. Oh and I have to have an Irn Bru (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irn-Bru) when I'm hungover.

Which would be four tablespoons (except in australia where people celebrate Christmas in summer and it is four teaspoons to the tablespoon) of HFCS. Wiki on High fructose corn syrup. Thought it was an interesting read.

Most things I drink, I make or mix myself (tea, coffee, hot coco, etc). I have always wanted a to make root beer from scratch, but I don't think that will happen any time soon. It has been months since I have had a soda/coke/pop/what ever you call them.

Another Diet Coke drinker here! Actually, I only drink one 12oz a day - at lunch. It's tea (unsweetened) most of the day and water at night (unless I have some wine!).
Last time I took a drink of regular Coke, I wound up sick to my stomach!

I stopped drinking regular soda (correctly called "pop" around here) at least a decade ago. I figured I didn't need the calories and they are sooo easy to ingest in liquid form. Now I've had to cut out the caffeine too so I now dring diet, caffeine free Coke or Pepsi. I haven't decided which one I like better. Recently I have also been going for a taste from my childhood in Detroit, Vernor's Gingerale. It is available in diet but doesn't have quite the nose-tingling quality of the original. My grandmother used to make ice cream floats for us with vanilla ice cream and Vernor's. Everyone should try this at least once in their lives. So, the day before my grandmother's funeral (she was 96) I and a couple dozen of my siblings and cousins enjoyed Vernor's ice cream floats in her honor. She would have enjoyed that.

Make sure you get Vernor's! It's not the same with the others.

Can't stand Verner's ginger ale. Too weak and watered down. Has to be Pure Spring or (what else?) Canada Dry. I'm told that no-one stocks ginger ale in Ireland. :sniffle:

Interesting read on Irn Bru on wiki. Says its available in Canada, but I've never seen it nor heard of it. Perhaps only in larger centres at ethnic outlets. I've had some Italian soft drinks in Toronto that are excellent, e.g. Mio.
