SWM, early 50s, occupied out of necessity with balking at living up to someone's idea of my "potential". If you want a project, go to Home Depot. That said, we could get together and reject each other over coffee. Any suggestion of Starbuck's, and I will not call back. Nothing is so unsexy as desperation, so obviously I'm your man. Maybe.

Dated? One doesn't normally hear of a guy "dating" prostitutes. Well, at least I don't normally hear of that...Tony wrote:I've already dated 2 Chinese prostitutes...
I've been out of contact with a computer all day and just got to read the ads posted. We've certainly got some ... um ... interesting people on this board! (Although there are a couple of tempting ones...)

What does "SWM" mean?
edit--never mind. I figured it out. That seems too obvious. It seems we have a lot of SWMs around here!

Escort, Call Girl, Prostitute... call it what you'd like. In the beginning, the relationships appeared to be normal. I guess Real Estate Agents and Acupuncturists have plenty of free time to book other services/activities...susnfx wrote:Dated? One doesn't normally hear of a guy "dating" prostitutes. Heh. Every time a "working girl" has accosted me, she'd ask if I "want a date". Euphemism of the trade, looks like.Tony wrote:Escort, Call Girl, Prostitute... call it what you'd like. You might be surprised. I looked it up on Google before I asked and I got all kinds of answers.djm wrote:Sycophantic Whale MutilatorCberry wrote:What does "SWM" mean?

I could go on all night (but won't).

I eventually found it out a few pages down though (and edited my post). I didn't think to put my ethnicity in my personal ad (it shouldn't matter), but I know Jim doesn't care anyway.

In a perfect world it wouldn't, would it. So, it's an expedient and a courtesy to those for whom it does matter. Less chance of wasting everyone's time that way. Those for whom race, age or ethnicity don't matter (in whatever combination) usually provide that information in such ads if they're conscientious.Cranberry wrote:I didn't think to put my ethnicity in my personal ad (it shouldn't matter)...
Of course, there's always the thrill of discovery about that sort of thing as phone conversations or emails ensue and noninformation gives way to revelation. It all depends on what one considers wasted time, I guess.
Then there's the issue of out-and-out lying about oneself. I recall a conversation with a fellow who related to me in fair detail how he'd described himself in a personal ad, and it was nothing approaching the reality at all. Dumbfounded, I asked him why he'd do that. As I recall, he was dumbfounded in turn that I'd asked. What was he thinking? Makes no sense to me at all.
