Who's "Little Wing" was the best?

If I need to explain it, maybe you shouldn't vote.

Don't get me wrong - I mean, I love you and everything - but you have to have heard them play it to vote.

Peace,
Daniel

Hmmm.... That's like asking: Who's "Beautiful Day" is better... Bono or Kurt Nilsen?

I go with Jimi!

Eric Clapton, with Derek and the Dominos.

Maybe... :D

... didn't Hendrix write it?

Indeed.

And I just discovered that Ottmar Liebert covered it too. :o

No way is Clapton's version better than SRV's! Jimi's is the best though.

At least you didn't have the G3 (Satriani, Vai and Malmsteen) version. Which is technically awesome but emotionally dead.

Jimi-- but only by a slim margin over Derek and the Dominoes.
sorry to say I haven't heard the SRV version. Anyone got a link?

I've heard that the song is about Grace Slick, who's maiden (or middle) name is Wing-- does anyone know if that's true or not? Man, I really had the hots for Gracie back in the day...

I think everyone and his mother has recorded this song. Sting's
version features Branford Marsalis. The Corrs do a vaguely Irish
version (which I actually like a lot). Did you leave them out on
purpose? Are they non-starters?

Still, Hendrix roxxors.

I didn't leave anyone out on purpose. I just picked the three that come to the top of my mind when I think of this song.

I picked the song because I've heard it interpreted anywhere from "emotionally dead," to so sweet it brings tears to my eyes.

Thanks for the YouTube links Tony.

They're probably jammin' right now.
Hendrix and Stevie Ray tradin' licks. Noel Redding is playing bass and they've got John Bonham on drums!

If Zamphir had covered it I would have picked him.

He hasn't, has he?

Yeah, I've gotta agree. Perhaps SRV's single best piece.
