Perhaps because he is playing off the knee throughout?

It's obvious the man can't play ! Just look at the position of his fingers...

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Definitely playing off the knee. He's got the chanter positioned between his legs. Don't care for the sound of the chanter, I have to say, but that's probably due to its being played open like that.

It's a Pakistani set (which speaks volumes), played off of the knee.

Fortunately for us, he has the temerity to put up a second video. Rather than dis the guy, I think we should applaud his fortitude to keep at it, regardless of whether he knows what he's doing or not.

I agree, but with the internet these days, he should be able to notice what's wrong, shouldn't he ?

The question is just : how can you enjoy playing such a set ? How can anybody believe this is the sound of our beloved uilleann pipes ? :(

He doesn't have the one drone (and I am assuming it is the bass) tuned correctly to D, it is tuned to the A note. He uses the popping strap however, if only to stop the chanter.

If anyone knows this fella, could you (mercifully) clue him in?

Figured it out, even though I don't play UPs (yet) I know from playing GHBs and Gaita. Watch his left arm jump off the bag when he pumps the bellows. He is pumping through the reed. Not using his left arm to push the air at all.

Well UserNoah has eight videos, It seems he is learning by himself and is being resourceful. Somehow he has gotten a highland drone attached to the bag and is using that, hence the A tuning. He is persevering without a quality instrument and trying to learn. I wish him the best of luck and I'm sure he'll run across another piper eventually to help with technique.

Seems that he have some prob's with bag intake valve.... air goes back from bag to bellows all the time... ( look his arms movements)

He is either playing from the bellows instead of the bag or he has a serious leak.
