Bill Haneman Uilleann pipes
I’m just back from Dublin with a new half set by Bill Haneman
I really don’t know what to say else than THANK YOU BILL!
It is even better than I could imagine. It looks fantastic and the masur really gives it a nice little Scandinavian touch. Within a year it will darken and blend perfectly with the brass and the ebony. When I was to give it a test play at Bills there were some very skilled musicians there and my brain went completely blank, couldn’t even get the fingering right
Safe back at the hotel I got to play around with it for a few hours and it really is amazingly sweet to play and the sound characteristics and voicing is even better than I thought was possible on a CP set. Don’t know how you did it Bill, but you sure did. This is my dream set and I really hope that I can do it justice some day.
Thanks Bill, for both hospitality and my set of pipes, and thank you Paul for my first real pint of draft Guiness in Ireland (had a few more the following days ).
Here is a clip of Bill playing my set, I’ll put up some of my own in the future.
Green Fields of Canada
Cheers all, now I better get back to practice, can't blame the instrument any more

BTW
There is now a practise set by Robbie Hughes that is fore sale

There is no such thing as tailwind -- it's either against you or you're simply having great legs!

Oh, yeah...now that in my opninion is what drones should sound like very growly sounding . Mind you opinions on what drones should sound like very from person to person, I like the growly type myself but your tastes could very. The bass drone sounds like it could damage the foundations of a house if you wern't careful MarcuR . I listened to one of the Bb sets on Bill's website; sometimes I think on Bb sets the drones can sound to mushy sometimes, but from the sound samples I've heard I believe Bill has the balance just right.

Thanks all for the nice comments about my pipes but all credits should go to Bill, I just laid up the cash
I'll take som detailed pictures for you but it will take a few days as the CCD on my digital camera died while in Dublin
I'm not sure about regs Pat. Thing is that I got to hear and test play one of Bill's C# sets ... ...
So if I get good enough to progress to a full set that will be it.
L42B I think we share the same taste as Bill when it comes to drones
One of the main reasons why I placed my order with Bill was that he really understood what I was after, even though I wasn't able to express it in musical or pipemaking terms. When it comes to sound charateristics and tonality everyone has their on taste and liking so it is a real treat to be able to order a new set to your own preferences
Cheers for now!
