Good Bb Whistles?

Post by lenf »

Size, tone, etc. I've come to quite enjoy my sole Bb whistle. On the main C&F site it lists Bb as a standard key, but I've not noted that many firms that have a current model in that key. (And I'm not noting the exact whistle I'm playing at present so as to not slant the replies one way or another... ;-).)

Any recommendations for good (and great) Bb whistles?

Everything Ronaldo Reyburn touches is gold. I also really enjoyed my Bleazey Bb, but the Cn was extremely sharp. I have a Sindt Bb that's pretty okay. And I still like the old Generation Bb pretty good, too. Oh, and my old Water Weasel Bb was wonderful.

The Generation Bb is a very good whistle. Better if it is worked on a little.

And my converted to whistle cooperman Bb.

For which you might consider contacting Mr. Jerry Freeman. :)

I was pretty happy with copeland and generation Bbs. My Silkstone Bb was a little weak, using the same bore-size as the D.

I've got a good Hoover whitecap on aluminum barrel that one of y'all sold me. But then a Hoover is rarely a risky choice.

I love my Generation Bb. I did some minor tweaks to it on my own and have not found myself wanting to try anything else. I'm very satisfied with it.

In addition to those mentioned above...the Bb Water Weasel is very nice.

Now that you mention it, I always liked my Susato Bb best of all of them. I had the D/C/Bb set.

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

I had an Overton Bb once, and I loved the tone. Absolutely loved it. I didn't like the hard blowing aspect of the upper octave and sold it. I want to buy another and have them dial back the pressure requirement a tad.

I'll agree with the Freeman Tweaked Generation Bb

The Reyburn in Bb is also wonderful.

I haven't played an Overton in Bb - but I haven't met an Overton I didn't like.

Good hunting,
Daniel

It's my opinion - highly regarded (and sometimes not) by me. Peace y'all.
