Oh sure, I use search and replace. In fact, I am the caret king (inside joke). It's just that the Production Dept. has given them the guidelines over and over not to insert tabs, extra spaces, etc etc. Even the editor-in-chief throws in tabs to "show us" when something is to be centered, even though we re-format everything...Old habits die hard.
How do you prepare for the end of the world?

I do. But I'll try not to, since it bothers Weekenders. Gee, that's difficult, though!

It's not because I'm a moron. It's because I'm a Digital Immigrant.

Ooo! Shall we go all anal and insist you call them italics or braces? A lot of this depends on where you learned your nomenclature from. There are no official hard and fast rules for the names of most special characters in type/print/font/typeface.

Don't bother. He'd just find something else to get upset about. :D

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

I do because that is what I was taught throughout school. I was taught that even in computer classes (I'm not nearly old enough to have taken typwriter classes!).
I did notice a while ago though that when you submit your post on this forum it takes out the extra space. Many have said that it's a wasted effort but I don't even think about it, I just do it naturally... it's like lifting my top index finger when playing middle D.

Define nearly. I took it in the 1990's.

I took a typewriter class in 2001. In many poorer school districts in the US, and in most schools around the world, there are no computers.

I tend to double space after a period, more out of habit from HS typing class. I realise that the computer will ignore the extra one. However, I do think that the extra space between sentences does make a paragragh easier to read. If you look at a long paragragh typed before and after you hit the submit button you might see what I mean.
Discussing politics is like having a conversation with the ex. You know that no matter what the subject....it could be as innocent as what you had to eat for lunch....you know that they are going to somehow work your past sins into the conversation

I see it. All you have to do is to press quote on your post. Or, for that matter, press quote on this post. I've made a special effort to double space even though I don't usually do it. Yes, yes, it is easier indeed. Just press quote now, everybody, and see for yourselves. It's cool. ;)

Lucky American schoolkids.
Must be awful hard for the Europeans and others.

I meant more countries considered third-world like Sudan, Afghanistan, or Haiti. I don't suspect they have computers.

I was told to put two spaces at the end of a sentence in middle school. As long as my English professors don't care, neither do I.
