- Tell us something.: Irish music has been a developing passion of mine. In the next few years, I hope to have all four of my kids going on whistles!

If you were stranded on a deserted island...
...and could only have 3 UP recordings, which ones would you choose?
Mine, following the classic trinitarian formula...
1) Father--Seamus Ennis "The Best of Irish Piping" (heh, a 2 cd set)
2) Son--Brian McNamara "A Piper's Dream"
3) Holy Spirit--David Power "My Love Is In America"
Ennis, a gimmee. McNamara...when I die, I want to come back as his chanter. Power...I just love the way he plays.
(endnote: I know, deserted islands do not have electricity or CD players...)

Could we not have eight CD's, as they are 'Records'... and if we could only take one.....
Mick O' Brien - May Morning Dew.
Jimmy O'Brien Moran - Sean Reid's Favourite.
Seamus Ennis - Return From Fingal.
Tommy Keane - The Piper's Apron.
Brian MacNamara - A Piper's Dream.
Planxty - Words And Music.
Willie Clancy I.
Willie Clancy II.
Which would I take; but I would want a luxury too- A well made set O' pipes, and the tools to make reeds, and all the cane I could possibly want?
Either of the Willie Clancy.

To seriously asnwer this question:
1) Brian MacNamara - Fort of the Jewels
2) Ronan Brown - Catch Me if You Dare
3) Seamus Ennis - The Return From Fingal
To nonsensically answer this question:
If I am not allowed to bring all of my Treasured Piping CDs (and power source, and pipes, and reedmaking supplies, My leatherbound copy of The Lord of the Rings and all of the Harry Potter books {including the last one when it comes pout}, some sunscreen, enough food to last three life times, a box of those tiny little umbrellas that go in tropical drinks, A DVD player and the film Serenity AND the complete TV series of Firefly on DVD, A book on the paintings of Degas featuring all of his work in color, some Zap Comic books with the pages stuck together, some suspicious looking baggies, my wife, my dog and an endless supply of good Irish hootch), then I ain't gonna go to no feckin deserted island.... and you can't make me!

I second that one! (BTW, it's "Touch Me If You Dare")Joseph E. Smith wrote:To seriously asnwer this question:

The other two are a tough call. Probably Blas na Meala (Padraig MacMathuna), and - would it be a cop-out for me to pick The Drones and The Chanters Vol. 1? Or maybe The Stone In The Field... or both Drones and The Chanters

She's not my intern, she's C&F's intern.... I just happen to have her at my beck and call at the moment... ah, there she is now, bringing another tray of cheesy snacks and diet coke. Man, I could get used to this.....glands wrote:Stranded on a deserted island.......well...then it wouldn't be deserted.....but....I'd take Joe Smith's intern.....
