It's time when one can attend the lectures at Spiro Mounds State Archaeological Park. "The Vernal Equinox will be observed on March 20-21 with Peterson leading walks around the Spiro Mounds site at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. each day. He will describe how some of the mounds were built to mark the solar calendar. Admission will be $3 for adults, $2 for children 7 to 12, and children under 7 free."

"Peterson also will describe the development of the mounds, the excavations and other stories dealing with Native Americans who controlled eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas from 600 A.D. to 1450 A.D. Each walk will start at the Interpretive Center and take from one-and-a-half to two hours, he said. Reservations will not be required."

And in Salem, NH, there is a *very* old (~4K years) ruined site of Astrological Significance, which has been dubbed America's Stonehenge.
I have yet to go there on an astronomically significant day, but apparently, there are all sorts of great cosmic calendar sort of events that can be observed from the "platform".

Check it out - I got a really cool feeling from visiting that place.

It's only about a 20-minute trip from my house, but it doesn't look like good weather for the tour.
