Something to get off my chest

Post by Sliabh Luachra »

This isn't to anyone in particular, or even to anyone here (I think). I just need to say it one more time and maybe this time SOME people in the universe will hear me...

I'm sorry but SONGS HAVE FECKIN' WORDS!!!! Reels, jigs, polkas, slides, etc., with a few exceptions, DO NOT. They're TUNES!!!! TUNES I TELL YOU!!!!!!

THEY'RE NOT SONGS!!!!:swear:

And if your playing the tune of a song on your flute. . . IT'S AN AIR!!!!! FLUTES DON'T SPEAK WORDS!!!!!!!

THEY'RE NOT SONGS ANYMORE!!!

AAAAAARGGHGHGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!:swear:

Okay, I feel a little better now. You may now return to your regularly scheduled Chiff and Fipple stuff. Sorry. I'll be making an appointment with my therapist in the morning.

Are you feeling a bit better now?
Now that you have got rid of that load??
Take a few long deep breaths and settle a while.

Now that you have settled down a bit -
Did you ever think not to dump on our best carpet?
Just because the sh*t don't understand the
difference between a song. and a tune, and an
air, and a slow-air - is no reason not to go
out the back - like any decent man with a gut
full of bad porter to get rid of it!!

Now that it is said - why dont you sit down and
play us a couple of nice tunes?

 Okay, we got it! Actually, I know this had to be explained to me. I just didn't know the correct terms. Don't worry, once people get used to the words it seems as though they usually use them correctly. So go rest now, have some drinks, or something.

Take no notice of me, Cynth, really. I'm very very very sorry. Long day. Daughter listening to Metallica entirely too loud.

Yes tunes sound lovely, anyone?

I definately feel the same frustration, Sliabh Luachra. Kinda makes you want to strange the ignorant fiddlers... I propose a worldwide holiday where we educate the naive masses about Irish music. Get rid of the thinking that Danny Boy is the only acceptible song to play on St. Patrick's Day... again

It drives me absolutely mad. The worst part is she was quite a good fiddler when she was younger.

And you're worried about whether we call a tune a song?

It's probably just the angle of photo but it does look like his guitar is on fire.

So I'm curious, has anyone tried playing a flaming whistle? I'm guessing Susatos and Busmans wouldn't work well while lit.

I think this guy tried it and didn't like it.
The flames must have starting coming
out of the mouthpiece!

I think jGilder could do it, but he's too busy talking about conspiracy theories in the Controversial Forum. Dang. Some people just don't have their priorities straight!
