One month of heaven

Post by seisflutes »

A wonderful person is letting me borrow his Seth Gallagher B full set for a month! A whole month! I first got my hands on it yesterday. I had known I wanted a B set before, but the desire has grown a million times stronger after playing this thing for a few hours. It seems to like the humidity in my room. It's more humid there than most places are at this time of year because of all the steaming wet wool I have hanging about.
I only have a concert pitch half set. This has regulators and everything! I got them much closer to being in tune than they were before. I've been playing around with them and just loving it. I can't do much with them yet but I'm working on that.
I am so in love.

I understand. I had a Gallagher ½ set in B for a while and loved it. I may get another one someday.

Tell us more,

I'm very interested in the Gallagher B - I've a full B set and a C chanter ordered from him, I'm heading over to collect it in September.

Haven't heard his flat pipes, but my concert set I got from him this year is superb.

Well, what do you want to know? I'll tell you some more now, but if I miss anything, just ask.

It sounds absolutely wonderful and for the most part plays great too. Awesome tone on everything. The tuning of the chanter is good. It's beautiful to look at. My hands and arms have been getting a bit tired after playing it for a while, but not too much.
A couple notes(the two highest ones, whatever they are) on the tenor regulator are a little wobbly, and I don't know how common that is since I don't have any other experience with regs. But they can be played in tune with the right bag pressure.

Anything else?

You are indeed a fortunate soul.

Try to get some sleep, and remember to eat a balanced diet during the coming month. (assuming you're going to be playing 24/7). :)
