Love it! Thanks for the laugh, I needed it. So, just out of curiosity, how does it feel to be comforted by a goose? (And don't you feel guilty luring the poor innocent goose to its doom by provoking its compassion? )

My thoughts exactly. Kinda reminds me of "March of the Penguins" or something (ha, ha, ha). Way to go, Keith!Learning Piper wrote:

I should say its mostly my brother-in-laws who know that on the weekends I like to sleep in, but they call me and ask if I want to go....then they add don't forget that specially made duck call..... I do have the best brother-in-laws in the world...they just get a kick at watching me struggle with the bellows and make the set "HONK"......LOL

Keith, thats both great and cruel at the same time. What is the effect that it has on the ducks and geese really? Are they drawn to it, or are they afrightened of it?KDMARTINKY wrote:I should say its mostly my brother-in-laws who know that on the weekends I like to sleep in, but they call me and ask if I want to go....then they add don't forget that specially made duck call..... LOL....Duck hunters are calling me at 3 & 4 am asking me to bring my set to the fields to call in the ducks......LOL
LOL... Given your habit of playing for our fine feathered friends, you are a "playah" if you keep your hand on the leg of the duck (pimp my pipes!) and keep the gander out of your pratie hole (if you know what I mean)...LOL

If
If you can keep the rythm when all about you
Are losing it and blaming it on you;
If you can tune your set when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can choose a set just by yourself
Without hearing lies around, and don't deal in lies,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being cheated, don't give way to cheating;
If you play fast - and not make speed your master;
If you play with skill - and not make skillfulness your aim;
If you can meet with drones and regulators
And play those two easily just the same;
If you can bear to hear the reed you've made
Twisted by high humidity or temperature,
Or watch the reeds you gave your nights to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;
If you can make one heap of all your learnings
And risk it on one turn of a back-stitching,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and fingers
To serve your playing long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";
If you can play in pubs and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Keenan - nor lose the common touch;
If neither fiddles nor bodhrans can hurt you;
If all instruments count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of music played -
Yours is the UP and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Piper my son!

Felix, great stuff! Positively brilliant! I plan to print copies out and put them on my practice room door, my pipe case, etc. Thanks for the laugh.
