There's nothing I feel guilty about listening to (but then I don't listen to Bobby Sherman). I own "A tramp shining" by Richard Harris, featuring everybody's favorite MacArthur Park. As well as most of Blondie's albums. Even a few Enya albums. I love early Carly Simon, in fact I think she had as good a run of four or five albums as anyone.

Although most of my music falls into this realm, (everything from Kreator to Tom Leaher) Unfortunately most of the groups I listen to are so obscure that most titles would not be recognized here. I think that my movie sound tracks are the crowning achievement of low brow taste.

(The original) Willie Wanka and the chocolate factory (umpa lumpa)
The wizard of Oz. (Until I found that “If I only had a brain” predated the movie)
Connan the Barbarian

I feel guilty about playing Willie Wanka when I am trying to get certain songs stuck into peoples heads.

Not exactly trashy, beyond trashy. Does anyone like the Residents? Almost beyond category. Makes Frank Zappa sound like Mary Poppins.

I hadn't thought of the Residents in years. I remember hearing their take on "Mood Indigo" or something once. Innteresting. . .

Sweet Baby James by James Taylor and...*confessional sigh*... Operator by Jim Croce. Oh, and I'd Really Love to See You Tonight. (Hmm...I guess I like the "phone song" genre.)

What about "Telephone Line," Electric Light Orchestra?
"I Just Called to Say I Love You," Stevie Wonder?

Or do you mean this kind of telephone song?

I cannot for the life of me see how anyone could feel guilty about listening to the great James Taylor.
A truly great singer/songwriter and that right hand picking style of his is a righteous sound if ever there was one.
Only a few hours ago I was listening to another of his impossibly tender songs of yearning and desire "Carolina in my mind" and that folks is nothing to feel guilty about.

" In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina
Can't you see the sunshine
Can't you just feel the moonshine...."

Blissful I tell ye..blissful.

Slan,
D.
And many a poor man that has roved,
Loved and thought himself beloved,
From a glad kindness cannot take his eyes.

I agree.

And I think that Jim Croce was one of the most talented singer-songwriters of the bunch.

Or "Telephone and rubber band" by the Penguin Cafe Orchestra.

I also agree. I love the sound of JT's voice. "Carolina In My Mind" is my favorite.

Yep I used to be a Croce fan as well. Another good singer/songwriter of that era is Harry Chapin.

Don't forget Carly Simon and Carol King.
I'm no longer trying a new posting paradigm
