I refrain from comment. I don't want to say anything about cabin bo--, er, bo . . . hemoth?

Actually it first appeared when I was learning the fiddle, then a few years ago I was taking some programming classes and it really got bad. Then, after some physical therapy and not using the computer or playing music too much, it went away.Cynth wrote:Justine, if you don't mind my asking, was the carpal tunnel caused by playing the pipes somehow? Or by another activitiy. I can understand your frustration.
Now it comes and goes...it was bad a while back when I had the "death grip," but it eased up when I got over that. With the new pipes, though, the death grip is back, and my hand position is different on the new chanter. So I have to lay off for a little while and try to relax the hands...
I guess I shouldn't have been playing the new pipes so much...

Thank you, J. I have had slight cases of this and another problem from doing similar things and your experience helps me tell myself I better make sure I learn to relax even if I never get any further. It really is quite a worry. I hope you can get back to (moderate!) practicing before long. If you got over the "death grip" before, I'm sure you will be able to do it again.feadogin wrote:Actually it first appeared when I was learning the fiddle, then a few years ago I was taking some programming classes and it really got bad. Okay, back to the topic which was:
