You're not alone out there!

At the moment, all I have is a Generation nickel D.
I'm having major plans though what else to get and since I got some money quite recently I'll make these dreams come true (hopefully pretty soon).
I am planning on getting an Overton Low D and another high D, probably a Burke - but I still can't decide whether I want a pure or a breathy sound... I think I want both, but I don't have enough money for both...

I'm going to skip the obvious joke here ( ) and ask, "How is the Whitney, anyway?" I've often wondered about them, but I've not heard much.
Okay, I've corrected it.

Actually, it's a very decent whistle:

Nicely made and attractive, tuneable, and well in tune with itself, with OXXOOO for C-nat.

Fairly pure sound--a bit more of a non-raspy reediness than the Syn aluminum, but maybe slightly "muffled", too.

Quiet up through second octave G from which point it gets progressively louder, but even second octave C# isn't too bad.

No problem moving--or not moving--between octaves.

Doesn't use much air--I can get through a fairly slow version of "Sally Gardens" on four big breaths (though I normally wouldn't).

What little I know of ornamentation seems crisp enough on it.

It's not my favorite high D, but it's not my least favorite, either. For one thing, I don't really need a quiet whistle now.

Nearly forgot to mention...

Ralph Sweet wooden D (from a looooooong time ago) which I can't play due to allergies. Someday I'll find a wood that doesn't leave me wheezing after playing.

And as an aside: M&E Flute (original Delrin variety). Still can't really play it..never got the hang of the whole blowing thing.

What kind of a person sells a Bleazey? Just kiding but I would like to know why you sold it as I love mine, just a guess too much Back Pressure? The Burke I can understand I traded my DASBT for a Sindt C.

Those of you with all these whistles...ever been diagnosed with WHOA??? I mean, even with fewer than 20 whistles, I experience Lil'WHOA. Maybe its time you guys take a little trip to Dr. Wisely's office.

Busman ironwood D
Busman ironwood C
Busman black delrin D
Greenwood blackwood D

I don't have a particular favorite out of those four.

(I also have a Sweetone D and a strange "Moldavian caval" D whistle, but I never play them and I don't intend to keep them.)

Oh, good grief! Seeing them all listed out is like an intervention. You have to face your problem.

Of course, there are the Clarkes--original D, and a Freeman Tweaked Sweetone.
Mellow Dog
Silkstone C PVC
Silkstone D alloy, tunable
OBrien Bb, E, Eb
Syn C#, B
Water Weasel C, tunable

I can now play in every key known to western music.
I knew there was a real problem when I left all my whistles at work yesterday. It was a rough evening. I got to work this morning and was met with the scent of French vanilla coffee and the sight of my whistle pack. The whistle pack was more comforting than the thought of coffee.

Actually, I traded the Bleazey, the Busman, and the Burke for a mandolin. With guitar, banjo, and mandolin to work on, 22 whistles was a bit more than I needed. I just wasn't playing any of those particular whistles all that much. All three are great whistles, and I was very fond of the Burke. It has a bit more complex sound than my DAN.

I gave away the Dixon because I didn't like it. The Whitecap Feadog went to a relative because I did like it and I hoped that he would too (and he does). The Shaw got traded because the right-hand stretch was a bit too much.

In no particular order of importance:

Walton D
Walton C (neither of them are Mellows :sniffle: )
Clarke Meg C
Clarke natural D (just got this one three days ago and love it already)
Generation Bb
Home made PVC low G
Plus one PVC & two aluminium others I am in the process of making but havent decided on a key...might do and A and another C

And I can only play three complete songs!

But I'm learning...

In a somewhat preferred order (my preference changes all the time!):

Q1
Dixon tunable D
Songbird Low D
O'Brien D&C
Generation Bb
Susato SB non-tunable C
Feadog Brass D
Clarke MEG D&C

Also: 19th Century British Military Fife (can hardly play that one, it gives me a rash on the lip everytime I touch it! :-? )

And on order: Busman D+ Acetal :D

I recently added two new whistles to my collection (in addition to the Generation), as I felt that I should treat myself for my hard studying :D and so I purchased two Clarke Sweetones (one D and one C) from ebay (the price was really good plus they were new) and I love them! Their sound is so much warmer and softer.
I seem to have caught that whistle buying addiction... :D
