ITM: Ottowa Valley Dance

Post by L42B »

Hi Everyone

On the Chieftains, Live From Dublin: A Tribute To Derek Bell. The Pilatsky brothers play what seems to be two hornpipes. Does anybody know what these tunes are? If your interested click on this link to go to the list of sample tunes on the chieftains website http://www.irish.com/music.html then go down and click on Ottowa Valley Dance. They'd sound greeat on the Uilleann Pipes.

Cheers L42B :)

I checked the link to see where you were getting "Ottowa" from. Its pronounced and spelled "Ottawa". That's a jig before, and a reel after the dancing bit.

I think that maybe the reel was the first two parts of The Cup of Tea. I don't have any idea about the other one.

I think the jig was Humours of Glendart. Haven't thought about that tune in years.

The Humors of Glandart (also known as East at Glandart) -- jig
The Cup of Tea -- reel
Deja Fu: The sense that somewhere, somehow, you've been kicked in the head exactly like this before.
