Just continue to bless The Stylistics
Two Observations Made at a Wedding in Montevallo, Alabama
1. At the wedding:
Baptists (and I'm quick to add I was raised as one and my mother still is one) make liberal use of the word "just" in their prayers.
Lord, we just pray today that this couple will grow in their love for each and their faith in God.
And Lord, we pray that you will just continue to bless their union.
And we just pray that all gathered here will be safe in their journeys home.
2. At the reception, held in a barn:
It's impossible to dislike "Betcha By Golly, Wow," by The Stylistics.
That is all.

I was raised a Baptist and have become a bit gun-shy of them. Pat Robertson is not calming any of my fears. But bless their hearts, a lot of 'em try real hard to just do the right thing.
For a number of reasons, I joined the Presbyterians locally. I was delighted to learn that in budgetary matters, the minister has no vote. That discovery really resonated with my Scots-Irish ethnic heritage.

I have many good friends who are Baptists.
I know many Baptists who are very good people and are very sincere in their beliefs.
That said, I do find the political activism of their leaders to be dangerous and disgusting.
I also find their stated views on women's issues to be pretty reprehensible; however, many of the Baptists with whom I have talked about these issues do not agree with the stated views of their leaders on this point.
Like most organized religions, it's only when considered as a group that they are frightening. Individually, they are often quite nice folks.

I was raised culturally Baptist all my life but I was never baptised as a Baptist and I was never theologically or religiously a Baptist.
I have more prejudice against Baptists than I should, though. If you asked me to say a good word about them as a whole, I probably couldn't. But I know some really super Baptist individuals.
Dale, I thought you were born into Roman Catholicism. That's very interesting (but I find odd things interesting...).

But it's becoming like "like", like for sure!Cranberry wrote:I think "just" is like "only" in a lot of cases where it probably shouldn't be.

Hey, I'm like, only just gonna say this, like, just only once, like: I only just like "only", "just" and "like" when used in moderation, like.jbarter wrote:Hey, like I was gonna like say that.Tyler Morris wrote:But it's becoming like "like", like for sure!
