I have noticed that my technique on the flute, too, benefits from my whistle practice, and am waiting anxiously for my next breakthrough. A favorite location for practicing is on one of the benches down by the pond. Though I had to go through a number of spider web obstacle courses to get there this morning. After I got the path reopened, I serenaded the dogs and frogs.

I think the experience of playing in a Pub is one way to go about closing the gap of general musical ignorance about instruments. If there was an experiment to see how people can be familiarised, that's one way to go. When people have regular activity on the musical front, even if it's as a listener, other misapprehensions can be thrown fora loop. Nice to think things might change. I'm suspicious about elitists that want to keep their realm lofty and out of the way. Did you notice by the way that there's no confusion in the past or now about a Ukelele or a washboard? Let's add to public knowledge, carry on for non-ignorance (even if it be r*c*rd*rs, too, while we're at it, shall we?)
