Better than Harry Potter 6
Since "She Who Must Not Be Named" was engrossed in the latest Harry Potter book this past weekend, she basically told me to take a hike. So I did. Here's the view from the spot where I had lunch on Sunday.

There is actually much less snow than usual. Most years, there's 2 or 3 times more snow in September than we have in July this year. I didn't even have to carry my ice axe on this hike.

I've found that nearly every location has its own charm, even without large mountains. (I say "nearly" because I exclude Dallas, Texas, from that statement. ) And from the photos you've posted at various times, it's obvious that you're blessed with an abundance of natural beauty where you live. (That's a couple more really nice photos, by the way. Thanks for sharing them!)Peter Laban wrote:... We don't get mountains like that ...

Denny, is that the view from your property? If so, I'm envious. We live too close to Seattle to be able to afford a house with a view of the mountains or the sound. Being able to call it a "view home" bumps the price of a house up considerably around here. :roll:Denny wrote:southern boy!

long answer: naw, nobody would read the long answer!
We have only been here a few months... It doesn't seem real sometimes.
...and it never seems done.

That's what the locals want whenever tourists visit. It helps keep people from wanting to move here.missy wrote:When we were there 3 years ago, it was too foggy to see the top. It was foggy on our ride out to Friday Harbor, too. It was foggy when we drove down the coast to Portland.
The best time to visit is generally mid-July through September. Lots of sunshine, though it can get hazy enough to block the grand views. The weather really sucks the rest of the year, though. Yessiree, really, really sucks. You wouldn't want to live here, with 9 months of continuous drizzle. Nope, not a good place to live.
