:D now my excitement got all redoubled again... and i'm supposed to be studying G and M codes and writing programs for the CNCs... instead i'm too busy thinking about uilleann pipes...

and on a funny sidenote, a few of my fellow students noticed me reading/posting on this site and asked what it was about. "irish bagpipes," says I... so they further distracted me from the work i'm supposed to be doing by asking for explanations and whatnot...

fun times,
mark

Hi Albert

I think it is a very good instrument, but play 4 years now so not experienced. I also never played on another brand.

The set is stable and a beauty.

And in tune. no tape, paper, wax or rushes. (that means also the regulators!) After 6 months that I have my regs, I still wonder about them every day.

In the beginning I thought the reeds, specially the chanterreed, to loud.
But I got used to it and it got used to me.

I almost never change something. When she does not want to play, I don't play and wait for the next day.

Andreas Rogge practice set (poly-acetal chanter). Reliable, cheap, even the reed's holding up famously (knock on wood). Good sound from that chanter too.

I play a Tim Britton "D" 3/4 set in rosewood with a 4th "a" drone.
Also, a chanterless Kohler & Quinn D "3/4" set in ebony and delrin (Before anyone asks how I play a chanterless set: I use the Britton chanter w/ the K&Q set.)

I find it rather interesting to see just how many folks are playing 3/4 sets instead of full sets.

Is this a preference based on how the regs sounds wo/ the bass reg?

...or is it more based on the cost of putting a bass reg on a set?

For me, I like the sound of a 3/4 set and I think it looks kinda cool, too.
...but that's just me, and I am kinda nuts most of the time.

Chris Bayley Half Set. Good tone and plays really nice through both octaves and works at a very low pressure which took a bit of getting used to after my Hobgoblin (Irish Maker not Pakistani) practice set.
