Shane McGowan & the Pogues, the Sickbed of Cuchulain. But be warned. This song should only be listened to when one is:

1. Extremely drunk (preferably on Powers)
2. Wearing docs.

I love the part about getting sick in the church.
Well, since I am only fulfilling one of those criteria (I'm wearing my docs....and they're really cute ones too), I suppose I shouldn't listen right now ;)

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Dale, I've never liked that song. And I'll have you know that it took some major fortitude to out myself on this one, as my coolth is now compromised beyond hope. When coolth is gone, what's left? I ask you.

I like the Clash but I prefer other songs of theirs. I also like the early Pogues albums.

Right now I'd rather be listening to Duke Ellington.

Equal or close second would be Oingo Boingo's "Violent Love" from their 10 inch EP.

Very rare - and I have it! :D

Oh, and on topic, I'd have to nominate "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" as performed by Ladysmith Black Mombazo.

I've never seen that movie. I was inspired to when we had the "best movies" thread some time back, but I totally forgot about it. :P

The Gelnn Gould recording? Excellent! :D I especially like the eccentricities of his performance around #13 & 17 you can hear him humming/groaning along with his playing.
