Auto Innovator John DeLorean Dies at 80
Yahoo/AP news story:
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u ... t_delorean

"NEWARK, N.J. - John Z. DeLorean, an automotive innovator who left General Motors Corp. to develop a radically futuristic sports car only to see that venture crash spectacularly as he fought federal drug charges, has died at age 80."

I wonder if he'll be buried in a stainless steel coffin?

I never heard of him until now, but I think DeLorean is a pretty name.

My high school geometry teacher had a DeLorean. Don't know what he was doing teaching geometry if he could afford that car. He was a good teacher, but he spoke with such a thick German accent that few of us could understand him.

Cool car, though.

A friend of mine use to own one of these back in about '84, but traded it for a '55 Corvette. He probably came out ahead on the deal since his Vette is now worth about twice as much as the most expensive DeLoreans selling here on eBay:

Johnny Carson was an investor; 500K got him one DeLorean. They are quite amazing vehicles, especially with the gull wing doors.

The [movies in the] BTTF trilogy are among the few dvds I've been willing to buy as opposed to merely renting.
