Holy flute lichen Batman!
Even if half of these are crap, that's a steal!

Is anyone brave enough to try to win this lot?

Someone could probably easily get these for a steal, and sell them off piecemeal for a tidy profit. ...

(I'm not feeling very entrepreneurial at the moment, nor have I the initial capital, but someone must ...)

BTW, I think #5 from the right is an oboe, but since we can't really see the blowing end, it's just a guess.

Without smilies, etc., it's hard to tell if this is a genuine concern for my hard-earned money going to a scam artist, or if it is designed to keep me off the bidder list so that you can get the goods.

Is there a war on? Hmmm?? ;)

My guess is that the reason for the low bid price is that these flutes will only play in German. If they were ordinary flutes, everyone should know that even one of the flutes pictured in the auction is worth more than the current asking price. It will be interesting to see at what price the auction ends. I, for one, will not be one of the bidders, as it may get rough during the last few minutes.

I suspect the same thing, Doug. I really wish I did have a disposable income. I'd like nothing better than to get into the adrenaline-filled, final-seconds bidding wars I only hear about. I lost out on an auction once -- with literally seconds to spare -- and I never tried to win one again. I much prefer to just "Buy it Now" when available. I'm not much of a haggler.

Good point, Doug. A person might try to play a reel and it comes out sounding like an Oompah band.

Why this talk of asking prices ?
Unless there is a " buy now " option there are only offers.
Stuff poorly displayed !
Vendors who do not clearly show / describe what they are selling deserve poor results !
( As in present case ! )

Damn, there's a 5- or 6-key flageolet in there, too. I agree, the one looks like an oboe or possibly a clarinet.

My German is horribly rusty, but I'm pretty sure it says, 'old style Saxophone (appearance of a Clarinet)'

5th from the right definitely looks like an oboe, at least, the shape as well as the visible keys support that conclusion. (Having played oboe for nine yearsish, I've got a pretty good idea... ;) )

Wow, though.

The "Oboe" looks more like a Clarinet as the Reed end looks as if something goes over it not in it ie a clarinet reed has a moutpiece the sencond from the left looks like an Oboe with a simple fingering possibly a Bagpipe Chanter of some sort. So tempting but I have two good reasons not to. You guys might want to try Auction Sniper it automaticall places a bid in the last second of the auction it is almost guranteed to win unless your max bid is under the other bids.

Hmm, if it's an oboe there's no Bb key... I don't know much about clarinets, but the shape of the bell doesn't really look like one to me.

*shrugs* :)
