Looks a lot like a Sweet but it is not no Sweetheart branding on it and they always do that.

As far as I know Sweet has never made a flageolet with more than 3 keys.

Except for all the keys, that looks so much like a sweetheart it's hard to believe it's not.

Here's a Babelfish translation of the German write-up, for what it's worth:

Wood flute - ` Querfloete+Blockfloete ' (0c) Very beautiful small wood flute, looks somewhat wie'ne transverse flute: "Czakan" - Mark new churches of 1920-30! As admits: from wind instruments I do not have notion; I describe it as was seen and/or like it to me said: Be called should "Czakan" and be rare!? It is for me a mixture from block and transverse flute. Seems me totally i.O. (!) to be, can anyhow no lack (tears o.ae.) discover! No name stamp. Palisander; two parts, 6 flaps; Length 30 cm. I find the flute for its age very, very well received!

I'm pretty sure that my 27-30-year-old whistle shown at http://www.coastalfog.net/whistles/mysterywhistle.html is a Sweet, and it doesn't have an brand stamp.

Unfortunately, the Sweet folks have never responded to my emails about it.

I'm thinking flageolet. Some had recorder shaped heads insted of the beak we usually see.
My opinion is stupid and wrong.

Darwin, I have a Sweet rosewood whistle made in 1984, and it looks very similar to more recent whistles by Sweet. I believe your whistle to be by a different maker, though I don't know who.

No, Ralph doesn't, actually. The most he'll do is put a "Sweetheart" sticker where other folks place their branding marks.

Here's my new professional whistle/fife (which has yet to sell) and the instrument wood is entirely smooth, with no brand name.

The stickers are a bit gaudy, in my opinion, and are very easy to cleanly remove.

Ralph himself told me they have always but brands (yes he told me they are always branded) on their instruments.

That may be the case (that he told you that) but my Sweetheart Professional blackwood 3-key whistle/fife has absolutely no brand whatsoever; it came with a cheap-looking sticker that easily came off.

On the wooden models I thought that they were all numbered to ensure matching the tube to the mouthpiece after the parts had been machined.
