Name-wise it's probably best to separate the whistle from the poststructural and keep the whistle for, well, whistle related topic and the poststructural forum for the what have ye.

Each of the forums, Poststructural Whistle Board, Uillean Pipes, Flute, City Guide, ITM, and Clips & Snips, chooses electors, who in turn form the electoral col....wait.... this isn't an electoral college matter.... is it?

Have you allowed for hanging chiffs and pregnant fipples?

Ok. We have a winner. I'm asking Rich to create a new forum. Details to follow.

I am afraid of this new segregation. I blame the "neo-cons."

amar wrote: often, even on-topic theads end off-topic. what would happen if that would happen on a strictly on-topic (whistle) forum? And, how could it be prevented (should it?)?
Probably would happen is my guess...a quick glance at even the ITM forum shows threads hijacked by the usual silliness...Examples:
What's a Pratie , 15 replies, about 50% OT
And then there's
Text Messages to Ireland from the US ..still haven't quite figured that relationship to ITM out.
But those are extreme examples. On the whole, looking over the ITM forum, you'll see it's mostly on topic, with only a little OT. I would hope the same would be true on the whistle board after a whistle/OT split.

Rats! Now we'll have to start grumbling about on topic threads and redirecting them to the correct board.

Rich just reminded me of a board feature that I tend to neglect myself. When you log on to the main page, the one that lists all the forums, on the upper right side of the page, there are three links, one of which reads "View posts since last visit." It's the coolest. Try it.

I'm all for an OT board. I can't remember the last time I got any decent whistle knowledge off this board.

Do you think that a separate forum will help the quality of the posts?
