Well, this board doesn't have anything to do with Irish music anymore
Irish Traditonal Music, cannot be separated from the people who play it.It has always been a communal kind of thing...
This music has been the voice of many generations(no whistle jokes...)...
Without the people who indulge in this pastime there is nothing...ITM lives and breathes by those who play it.Kitchens, bedrooms, where ever the F$*& it goes down. Without the players it dies.

There is no room for puritanism. A bad beginner is so much better than a non-starter.

Keep the Faith.

Slan,
D.
And many a poor man that has roved,
Loved and thought himself beloved,
From a glad kindness cannot take his eyes.

Didn't know we were comaring anyone's playing abilities here. Just playing on a major trait of the board is all - noticed by more than a few. *sigh* guess someone always needs to feel picked on huh?

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

[mode=nitpick] Brian, this is the whistle forum. Aside form the OT stuff, it's about whistles, not necessarily what you play on them. The ITM forum is for ITM. [/mode]

Uh...hello?! I don't seem to recall where I mentioned anything about who can or can't play what. Just that a nice video game type tune would be in perfect keeping with the OT nature of the "whistle" board nowadays. Take a look at several recent other posts relating to this subject.

Aha but I dont care about that!

According to the Utah Uillean Pipers site, there's hardly any Oirish people there at all. The English OTOH are 33% and growing!

Same old story, assimilate, assasinate, annexe and confiscate.
