Welcome and good luck! If you can't get a sound out of the whistle, remember you didn't step on it hard enough.
Enjoy

Tell us something.: Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Part of what I love about celtic/folk style music is the sound of a handful of handmade instruments that remind me of simpler times.

Good luck! I hope you enjoy the tinwhistle as much as I do. I think you'll start to find it especially satisfying to play once you learn how to ornament your songs, and you have a good enough ear to put in your own little flavors.

Les, don't listen to Bloomfield. He's joshing you. I ruined several good whistles before I realized he was just pulling my leg.
BTW, Failte!

So Les, where do you live (you sound like an Englishman to me), what's your musical background, what sort of music do you plan to play?
Most important of all, what whistle did you buy???
