East Coast Tionol Oct 29 - Nov 1

Post by Paul Reid »

This is a request for a post from the Uilleann listserv

Hello all,

On behalf of Suzanne Ward, I am posting a reminder about registration for the East Coast Tionol, in East Durham, NY (home of the July Irish Arts
Week), Friday October 29 through Monday, Nov. 1, 2004.

The featured instructors are Mick O'Brien (who will be there with Caoimhin O' Raghallaigh), Mickey Dunne, and David Powers. Reed and pipe maintenance by Nick Whitmer; also in attendance will be Debbie Quigley, Benedict Koehler, and Patrick Hutchinson. Fiddle classes with Caoimhin and Patrick Ourceau are limited to 20 total fiddle students, and slots are filling up fast. There is also a flute workshop with Mike McHale on Saturday 10/30.

This will be one heck of a tionol -- rooms are beginning to fill up, so please get your registration in to Suzanne soon! For full details, registration fees, and registration forms, see www.eastcoastpipers.com.

Would someone registered on the C and F UP board please cross-post this notice? Many thanks!

Kara Doyle

Halloween

Post by Piobairi Uilleann Inis Fa »

The Tional is over the Halloween weekend, and I understand that there may be a Halloween party. What are you going to dress as? Perhaps a cowboy with leather chaps, or maybe Jim Morrison with leather pants. Either way, very functional for piping and with a built in leather popping strap! Anything to avoid?

If I'm reading the web site correctly, the costumes are for instruments, not people.

I tried to get the Octopus outfit, but they have all been rented. Bit of a giveaway ....

I'd rather be atop the foothills than beneath them.

Even if I could fit into that dress, I'm not sure its the right colour for my complexion. :(

Thats one of the coolest websites I've ever seen. Her bubbly personality really shows through.

Kind of the opposite of Lunasa. They look really pissed off in every photo I've ever seen of them. Maybe they are trying to look intense? If I saw a group of guys that looked like that outside a bar, I'd think I was about to get shivved.
