Azalin, ma post might have been a wee bit near the nuckel but in no way did I say anything that I could be sued for.

Stacey, I know what you mean, but Dale has been in trouble before because I posted something that a shop owner didnt like, and the shop owner threatened to sue Dale and I! Even though he had no legal ground, as I was merely saying that I thought the shop's prices were too high, I still understand why Dale would have deleted your post, he just don't want to stir that type of trouble with Davy and is sick of this whole situation :-)

I'm quit possibly I wrong off course.

Not all that far fetched, actually. If you want some interesting reading, see what went on with an online pet store that got bad reviews in a newsgroup.

http://www.petsforum.com/psw/

A lot of it has been dismissed, tossed out of court or denied, but many of the people have had extensive legal bills, and a few opted to settle rather than fight the good fight.

Interesting treatise on "free speech" and being able to post a bad opinion in a public forum.

If you read through the actual posts at petsforum.com you'll see that people are presenting the facts of the matter and not just throwing out vague generalities. If you also look at the BBB report you'll see that the company completely ignored 27 out of 30 complaints filed with the BBB. The company was even refusing mail being delivered to it. It's little wonder that this company filed for bankruptcy. As Martha Stewart might say..."it's a good thing"!

What would happen to these forums if opinions were denied because of fear of lawsuits?
  • PosterA . . . I'd like to buy a Low-D whistle but don't know which one to go with...any suggestions?
  • PosterB . . . I really like the BrandX whistle because I have small hands and it's a much better fit for me. BrandY has a much larger hole spacing.
  • PosterC . . . I really love my BrandZ whistle because it has a more mellow sound. The BrandY whistle seems to have a brighter sound than what I like.
  • BrandY Maker . . . Unless Dale removes all defamatory posts regarding our company's products I will not only sue him but all persons who participated in the derogatory posts.
Is there something wrong with this picture??

Oh, thank goodness!

Now maybe I'll stop having those nightmares.
