You're welcome. It's my pleasure. I love meeting whistle folk.

Bring cameras....

Also, the West Coast Gathering had someone with some kind of r#c*rd!r (minidisc, etc., that is); it might be fun if someone brought a recording device.

Hmmm....where did I leave my whistles?

Oh, by the way, I was hoping to get there in the morning and ride bikes, etc. but I'm sure we will get sucked into the Tour de France vortex until about 11 or 12, so we may not get there until more like 2 anyways.

I sure hope people don't make us stop playing! What's a whistle gathering without whistling?! Let's just hope we don't have the annual gathering of the North American Tinnitus Society at the next table...

I looked at the map of the park and noticed a river: anyone know if it's navigable? I might be tempted to throw my kayak on the car and get there early for a bit of paddling!

It was the pose of that avatar that threw me; from the front, I can see, why of course, it's Heinz

I'm sorry to say,

It's beginning to look like I won't be coming. I've had an absolutely horrific couple of weeks and I'm exhausted. Arleen told me this morning she's not yet well enough for the 10 hour round trip, which is consistent with what I've observed. She's continuing to get better and better, but she still gets worn down very easily.

I'm very sorry.

Best wishes,
Jerry

UPDATE #2

Post by slowair »

I'm sorry to hear that Jerry can't make it. I was looking forward to meeting him and hearing his tweaked whistles. We all hope his wife recovers quickly and fully.

This does create a bit of a problem.

I tried to call and get the reservation changed to three tables, but I was told that Section 32 is one complete site and we would lose that. That we would still get three tables, but they would not be near each other.

I kept the reservation for four tables. I'm hoping that I can get everyone to cover the cost. It's less than a buck a piece. Two parties are getting their own table. That leaves two tables to be devided amongst 12 people, provided no one else signs up. It's like 67 cents more for the 12.

If this is unreasonable or someone feels pressured to pay a bit more, than just let me know privately. No one else needs to know.

I will assume this is okay with the attendees unless I hear otherwise.

The weatherman seemed pretty confident this afternoon that Sunday will be a really nice day. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.

Don't worry about the cost of the tables. It's good to have our own section, we'll sort that out, I am sure and you won't be stuck with extra charges.

I'm really sorry to hear that Jerry and his wife won't be there. NEXT year!
Hey-- I had an idea... we all have extra cheapie whistles hanging around that we really don't play much. Let's all bring them along. If people from outside our group show interest when we start to play, we could give away whistles to them, maybe even give them a bit of a mini-lesson to get them started. Just a thought...
